I don't have a big budget and this is reflected in my gear. The tent I use has worked for years, in hot, cold, rain, sun and cost less than $30 new. It weighs less than 5 lbs and sets up in just a few minutes. It is no high-end hiker tent but does what I need. This is the case with most of my gear, cheap, functional, light, easy to replace.
- Ozark Trails 2 person hiker tent, perfect for minimalist touring, $30 at Wal-Mart.
- Sleeping Kit
- Bear Grylls Dream Weaver Sleeping Pad, Camp Pillow, and 0 degree sleeping bag, all three $130 from Wal-Mart.
- Sterno Stove and fuel, $20 from you know where.
- Toolkit (see my review)
